OK, so I didn’t set out to write this article today, but after reading the 4 articles out there on a problem I was having and getting NO where I figured I wasn’t the only one that is getting the message on my Shopify products list that says, “unavailable on messenger”.

Let me answer that really quickly and then for those of you who haven’t set up the messenger integration on FB, I will walk you through that below.

To fix “unavailable on messenger” in your Shopify products list:

  1. Login to the Shopify dashboard.
  2. Click “All products” under “Products”.
  3. Click on the product that is “unavailable on messenger”.
  4. On the product page, click “manage” in the “sales channels” box in upper right corner.
  5. Click on “messenger” in the pop-up.

This is what the “Sales channels” box looks like when “unavailable on messenger”:

This is what the Sales channels box looks like when it is available:

Available on messenger shopify

So, basically it makes sense that messenger is a sales channel and you have to enable it for each product.

To set up messenger for your Shopify store:

When you set up your Shopify store there is a bunch of options on the first page of the dashboard and one of them for me was “enable messenger”.  I clicked that and connected it to my FB page.

In my case, I started a new FB page specifically for customer service because using a auto-messenger service can quickly fill your FB page inbox and cause massive confusion.

Here is the help guide from Shopify for connecting messenger.

Happy selling!
