Have you ever been unsure about how to define blogging success? I mean, is it once you’ve reached so many page views, have a certain amount of followers, or made a ton of money?
Blogging success can look different for everyone, and here’s why:
Everyone has a different definition of success!
To have success in blogging, or in anything really, you have to first set goals. You will only live up to your own expectations. If you don’t feel good enough and expect nothing (set no goals), that’s exactly what you’re going to accomplish.
When you set goals, you are able to track your progress. Always look at how far you’ve come, not how far you have to go (because no matter how successful you get, there will always be farther to go!).
As you see yourself achieving the goals you set, you’ll start to see yourself as successful.
Know Your Purpose
If you’re like most bloggers, your purpose likely has something to do with money and the ability to earn a living. But maybe that’s not all. Maybe your purpose is to help people, or to connect with people, or to inspire people.
Success can be measured in more ways than monetary for sure. You might have a group where you connect with other bloggers or other moms, and communicate with them daily. This can be viewed as a great success, because sometimes helping others or just taking the time to listen is what people really need. If you can be that for people, then you’re a success, no matter how much money you’re making or how big your blog is.
Stay Away from The Comparison Game
Many of us do it. We compare our blogs to others…how many followers they have, how many page views they’re getting, and of course how much money they’re earning. My friends, success isn’t all in the numbers. I’ve seen plenty of smaller bloggers have great success, whether it be working with brands, cultivating loyal fans, or earning an income that meets their needs.
Don’t focus on measuring up to the needs of someone else. Focus on having success where you are. For some, it means earning a few thousand dollars a month. For others, maybe a few hundred is all they need to make a difference. While it’s great and we all have grandiose dreams of being a six (dare I say seven) figure blogger, the reality is that for most of us, much less is actually needed for us to meet the needs of our family and feel successful.
I hope these tips will help you define blogging success for yourself, because it really does look different for everyone. Be proud of yourself and what you have accomplished, and always look for the silver lining in all that you do.
