5 of the Best Tips to Avoid Blogger Burnout

If you’re a blogger, I’m sure at some point you’ve had to deal with being overwhelmed…which eventually leads to blogger burnout.

I know people who have almost called it quits due to burnout…it’s sad, but true.

That’s surely not what we want for you because you never know, your big break could be right around the corner!

So what do you do when you’re overwhelmed with blogging to help you avoid total blogger burnout?

These tips to avoid blogger burnout really help!

Here are a few quick tips that can help.

Get Organized

One of the hardest things for me is staying organized. Oh yes, I have good intentions, but as the days go by, they fall by the wayside. Life happens, we get it. But when you’re struggling to get organized, that’s taking your time and effort away from working in your business.

Set apart time to get yourself organized. Clean your desk. File your paperwork. Respond to those dozen emails you’ve been putting off. Plan your editorial calendar.  Take a day, two, or three…whatever it takes to get your business on track so you’re not always running behind the eight ball.

Hire Help

You might think you can’t afford to hire help, and that might very well be true. But really take a look at where you want your blog to be in a few months and even years. Can you get there doing everything all by yourself? (You might be able to, but it will certainly take a lot longer!)

Even if it’s just a little help at first, consider outsourcing a task or two that aren’t your favorite things. Hiring someone who is good at the things you’re not good at actually saves you money in the long run, because it frees up your time (and we all know time is money!) to do the things that you excel at (that will {eventually} make you more money!).

Take a Break

If you get to the point of being on the verge of blogger burnout, step away now, before you’re 100% there. It’s a lot easier to come back from being overwhelmed than it is to come back from total burnout!

When you’re overwhelmed, you’re not focused. And when you’re not focused, you’re not likely making any headway on projects or producing quality work.

Give yourself permission to step away and take a break. Taking a break and doing something you enjoy gives you time to focus on other things. I usually find that when I do this and then come back to blogging, I’m able to focus on work so much better.

Set Realistic Goals

Goals are great, and every blogger should have them. But make sure you evaluate regularly whether or not your goals are realistic. Now I’m not saying don’t dream big by any means. But  you need to make sure you’re considering everything from the specific actions you’re going to take to the time it will take to achieve your goals. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Neither are successful blogs.

Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Comparison really is the thief of joy. When our eyes are focused on another runner, our own race suffers. Know that your journey might not look like everyone else’s, and that’s okay, because it’s uniquely yours. Keep your own house in order, and pay less attention to the one next door. Remember, slow and steady wins the race.

Make sure you don’t get too overwhelmed with learning, either!
